 Nude

Sam Morris

Filmed in December 2019 and starring Sam Morris. ‘Nude’ is a short film exploring the physical and emotional relationship between a man and his body.

The film features the classically trained dancer and artist Sam Morris performing to his own introspective spoken word poem "Mine".

Set against the classic sound of Liszt’s ‘La Campanella’, the poem takes us through the artist’s exploration, insecurities and acceptance of his bare form

Behind the Scenes

This project was shot in a studio based in Woolwich, London. We utilised the cove backdrop in order to create a sense of space, particularly in the wide shots
.
An Arri T2 was used and focused to create a spot light. There was also an LED light above to add some fill.

Cleaning plates

The post-production of this film was very time-consuming. The studio floor and walls had a lot of imperfections, and I felt it was very distracting from Sam.

I decided it needed to be cleaned up. To do so, each frame was rotoscoped in order to filter the background and give it a cleaner look. This is an example of this process.
